Microsoft has signed a power purchasing agreement (PPA) with Talen Energy to use energy from the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, better known as the Three Mile Island nuclear plant, to meet its growing energy needs for its data centers.
The deal ensures a reliable and consistent supply of carbon-free electricity for Microsoft and contributes to its goal of being carbon negative by 2030. Using nuclear energy helps Microsoft reduce its carbon footprint, as it is one of the most efficient sources of electricity generation.
