Tennessee Republican Sen. Marsha Blackburn is calling for the Senate Judiciary Committee to subpoena the unredacted logs of Jeffrey Epstein’s flights as its “first act.”
In a letter on Thursday to committee chair Sen. Dick Durbin, Blackburn pointed to the revelation this week that some of the logs were reportedly inappropriately redacted.
“If accurate, this is a very serious breach of public trust and I call upon the Judiciary Committee to exercise its oversight authority and subpoena the entirety of the Jeffrey Epstein flight logs in order to review whether any other entries have been similarly redacted or deleted,” she wrote.
The aforementioned Epstein flight logs are kept at the Department of Health and Human Services. Blackburn is not the first lawmaker to call for an inquiry into the redaction, as speculation has been growing for months that the Epstein mysteries could have wider implications.
In closing, Blackburn wrote that the committee should “reset its mission” and make the subpoena its “first act.” Blackburn also expressed her desire to “join in a bipartisan effort” to hold those responsible for the redactions accountable and to “help ensure that justice is served in this case.”
