House Democrats included a condemnation of anti-Semitism and Islamophobia in a resolution condemning “anti-Palestinian discrimination and acts of violence.” The Resolution, which passed with an overwhelming majority, also condemned the boycott, divestment, and sanctions movement that advocates for cutting ties with Israel.
The initial draft of the Resolution was criticized by some Democrats for only mentioning Islamophobia. As an amendment, language condemning anti-Semitism and all forms of hate was added to the Resolution.
The Resolution condemned “all acts of violence or discrimination based on race, religious beliefs, national origin, gender or other identities,” including “anti-Semitic and biased acts of hate and intolerance.” It was passed in the House with a vote of 398-17 and will now move to the Senate for consideration.
