The Houthis have vowed to keep attacking ships in the Red Sea despite the formation of an American-led task force in the region. The US-led coalition includes ships from Britain, France, and Saudi Arabia which are aiming to protect shipping in the area.
The Houthis have made it clear that despite the formation of a task force, they “will not stay quiet in the face of the Saudi-led aggression,” referring to the Saudi-led coalition’s offensive against the Houthis in Yemen. Mohammed Ali Al Houthi, the head of the Houthi militia, said the formation of the task force would not stop attacks on Saudi military vessels, or any other ships in the region.
The Houthis have made it clear that they will continue to use naval mines and improvised explosive devices to target ships in the Red Sea and other waters. This could potentially lead to further tension between the Houthis and the coalition forces attempting to protect shipping in the area.
