for legal bills
Lawyers for the three poll workers who won a $148 million defamation lawsuit against former President Donald Trump’s lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, are suing him for their legal bills. The trio of poll workers, two election supervisors and a poll manager, had their ballots allegedly tampered with at a high-profile hearing by Giuliani. They sued Giuliani, who represented Trump in his election-fraud litigation, for making false accusations, alleging they were involved in felony activity without any evidence. They were awarded $1.3 million in legal fees.
The three poll workers’ lawyers argue that Giuliani still owes the full amount of legal fees and are taking him back to court to recoup the amount. “Giuliani’s lying defamatory statements caused our clients to suffer real emotional distress as a result of the pain and humiliation inflicted on them by Giuliani’s lies,” said one of the lawyers.
The poll workers have asked the court to recoup $154,500 from Giuliani to cover their legal costs. Previously, Giuliani was ordered to pay $1.3 million in legal fees, but has yet to comply. “Giuliani has not paid a dime toward our clients’ legal fees,” said one lawyer.
