In recent years, a new generation of anti-Hamas activists has arisen in Gaza. These individuals have been seeking to bring positive change to their society by providing humanitarian services, advocating for greater freedom of speech and expression, tackling youth unemployment, and calling for an end to Hamas’s oppressive rule.
Unfortunately, much of their efforts have been met with indifference and even outright hostility from the United Nations and various international aid groups. These organizations have largely ignored the activists and their work and failed to offer them opportunities to serve their own society. This is due to the perception that these activists are political opposition to Hamas and could hurt the relations of these organizations with the Gaza government.
In addition to the lack of recognition from international organizations, these activists also face intimidation and harassment from Hamas security forces. This intimidation has included arrests, interrogations, and raids of activists’ homes.
The new generation of anti-Hamas activists in Gaza deserves international support and recognition. Their dedication and courage should be acknowledged and rewarded for the sake of their own society’s future. International organizations and aid groups should provide more opportunities for these activists to serve their own society and push for real reform. By doing so, the world can help these brave individuals realize their ideas and ensure that the people of Gaza can live in a more open and democratic society.
